Simon Princess (formerly Grampian Pioneer, Standby Pioneer) was commissioned in 1981 as a standby vessel for the oil industry in the North Sea.
In 2015, she was reflagged to NIS – Norway, underwent a complete renovation, and was converted into a modern vessel for the aquaculture industry at a cost of approx. Euro 13 million. The vessel is in daily operation and has processed over 340 million salmon and sea trout since the beginning of 2016.
The vessel will be delivered with a new 5-year main class from DNV and will arrive in Bømlo approx. 6 July 2026 for workshop stay and main class. The washing equipment is built according to the container solution principle, and can be dismantled/mounted in 48 hours.
There is a separate engine room on deck for 750 kW. A generator that supplies thermolicers outside the main switchboard in the engine room. Gross tonnage: (ITC 69) 490 tons, Length 42 m, Width 11 m, Depth 4.8 m.
The vessel was historically certified for 130 passengers. 8 large cabins with 2 on top and 2 extra cabins. The size and maneuverability of Simon Princess make it possible to move around the various locations in an efficient and safe way. Both the vessel, Thermolicer, and crew can withstand harsh conditions, which makes it possible to operate in harsh conditions and in exposed fish farms! European trading certificate classified in DNV 1A1 Ice C with a 6-man crew for 24-hour operation. Day operation: 3 men.
